Kodiak 4-H Petting Zoo a Success!

By Amanda Blott

The Kodiak 4-H Club hosted the Petting Zoo during Crab Fest weekend May 24 and May 25. A special thanks goes to Mr. Perriman, the 4-H helpers, and the 4-H parents for helping to make this event such a success. Many kids from the 4-H Club worked at the Petting Zoo on Saturday. They included Kaylee Williams, Novalyn and Joan Alvarez, Garrett Kavanaugh, Ashley Tubb, Ashlyn Perriman, and Amanda Blott. On Sunday, just as many kids worked including Beau Mann, Spencer and Beth Tripp, Shalom and Sarah Neff, Katie Helligso, Ashley Tubb, Ashlyn Perriman, and Amanda Blott. We had a great turnout of animals because so many people let us use them. On Saturday, Mr. Crye let us use two of his baby goats. Cassie Carlson let us use her little baby Pot Bellied Pig, Boris. On both Saturday and Sunday, Ashley Tubb let us use her turtles. Ashlyn Perriman let us use her rabbit, Hutch, and her chickens, while Mr. and Mrs. Levenson let us use their miniature horse, Punky. Finally, on Sunday, Mrs. Eufemio let us use her pair of goats, Holly and Ivy. We had a great turnout of visitors. There was never a moment when someone was not in the tent. The workers were always kept busy answering questions and keeping the animals happy. The Petting Zoo was a great success. We earned $85.55 from donations for the two days.
