The Kodiak 4-H Archery Club is preparing to start up beginner classes in January. Youth archers from ages 9-18 years of age will learn basic shooting techniques with recurve and compound bows, range safety, bow tuning, equipment care and playing some really cool archery games.

Class sizes are limited to 16 archers and for insurance purposes all archers must be enrolled in 4-H. A medical/health-Assumption of Risk Release form must be signed by parents and turned in before the first class.

Besides the $7.00 basic 4-H enrollment fee it’s FREE!

All of the bows and equipment that is used during this class has been donated by the following generous people and organizations; Norm Sutliff, The Alaska Bowhunters Association, The Kodiak Chapter of KIWANIS and Dave Ihrig w/ PSE Archery. A special thanks also to Rob Swanson and Phil Chiaravalle for helping the club set up the new bows.

Archery Equipment

Archery equipment is provided by the club, but if an individual has their own equipment they may bring it if the instructor deems the bow safe and well matched to the shooter. We will be using PSE Optima and Buckeye Recurves (15#, 20#, 25#) and Browning Discovery Compound bows (10-30#).

For kids wishing to purchase their own equipment, an Instructor will be available for advice.
